Here we have a super rare leather walking cane with horn and bone inlays. I usually have to pause before I talk about this underground folk art beauty. I have looked in books and across the internet...I can't find another one. The design is so unusual, gritty, and brutal. And that's why I own it. You know those moments when you see something and you know you'll be strutting down the street with it? Yeah, and the masses will part when you're rolling up.

The antique bone cane was likely used for not only style, but self defense. Trust me...the steel rod at the heart of this thing brings the hammer hard. Ugh. Back to the design. I can't get over how the circular form abruptly stops near the top of the cane, leaving the rest of the leather straps wrapped around a rectangular form. It's so out there, and so in my heart. Yeah!

The unusual walking stick comes out of an estate of a prominent family in Rochester, MN. I have no idea where they acquired it. I'm confident the folk art walking stick was created in the 1800s. I'm also confident that the dude who walked around with this on his side owned whatever room he walked into. Think Bill the Butcher. Bru-tal.

The 19th century cane stands just under 34" tall. The hook horn handle measures about 5". There is awesome patina everywhere, including scuffs, scrapes, and discoloration. The more the merrier, trust me. There is one section of leather and square base that rotates from the rest of the form. It's near the top of the scrape in the leather, just above the bone inlay at the bottom. There's also a crack in the bone inlay at the bottom, probably caused by an "incident." Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes please). Free shipping on this rare beast of a walking stick.

The coolest design I've ever seen in a cane. Straight up, and knocked down. Bru-tal.
