Here we have a stunner of an American folk art walking stick from the late 1800s, featuring a dog with silver-plated ears and collar. What an epic look! This hound dog can hear everything if he’s able to move his ears. What a perfect dichotomy of gorgeous metal, glass eyes, intricate wood carving, and segmented stem. This dog will hunt….the question is will he ever stop. Let’s hope not. Those puppy dog eyes will get you, too.

The folk art walking stick likely dates from the early 1880s. The artist is mystery to me. I've looked everywhere and can't find a marking. The cane came out of a Twin Cities collection of antique and vintage canes containing many folk art examples.

The antique hound cane measures about 36" tall. There is perfect light patina throughout from age. The collar has a 900 SP marking. I think this piece is silver-plated as opposed to pure silver. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes). Free shipping on the rare antique silver carved cane.

Here's to the mavericks who put all their blood, sweat and tears into something that will stick around long after they're gone. She's a fine example, and a grade A, bonafide, dead on wicked piece.
