Here we have an amazing 18th century Malacca cane with an detailed brass cap. When you grab hold of this beauty and look at the long and patinated ferrule at the base, you can't help but imagine the top hat gent meandering down the way, getting a sturdy grip between the cobblestones. The patina is absolutely perfect, and tells a story that spans the centuries. It takes centuries to produce this type of patina. Then you have the over-fastened string hole for the extra connection to this beast. I absolutely love this historic piece.
The rare 1700s gentleman's cane comes out of the estate of an antique cane collector in Wisconsin. Based on research, the cane was likely made in the late 1700s.
The antique walking cane stands just under 33".. As stated above, there is perfect patina everywhere. The long brass ferrule has a million stories alone based on the wear. The brass knob has a few small dents from the centuries of use. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
