Here we have a stunning WPA print on screen of the Grim Reaper hanging around a graveyard, ready do some damage. Leave it to the WPA era to stop you in your tracks and pause out of respect. Needless to say, I love this piece. The large artwork was originally part of a set featuring patriotic figures that adorned a post office wall. The Reaper served as contrast to Truth, Equality, and Hope. Those three characters weren't available, so I ended up with the Bad Boy of the group. I can see why the rest of the crew feared him.
The rare WPA relic comes out of a serious folk art collector in Iowa. The artwork was created in the 1930s. The original artist is a mystery.
The framed WPA era artwork measures 35" tall by 28" wide. The print on screen has held up well over the years, with the vibrants still beaming. In the upper left corner there is a loss to the print, likely as a result of rust to the screen. There is patina throughout the vintage print. The upper left and lower right corners of the frame are experiencing slight separation. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only. Free shipping on the rare WPA artwork.
Fear the reaper. This piece is a magnificent beast.
