Here we have a WPA era watercolor painting of a worker from Mexico entitled "On the Freighter - Mexico." This beauty oozes with Social Realism and puts out a powerful vibe you can feel across the room. The strokes and the tones come together like a symphony. This is all the business, and business is good.

The antique watercolor painting came out of a collector's estate in New York. The painting is signed by the artist "Muriel Goodwin." Here's some more information about the artist from the Artists in California, 1786-1940 book.

Muriel Goodwin Corbett was born in Oakland, CA on June 5, 1906. Muriel graduated from Columbia University and the CCAC before her marriage to Roger Corbett. She taught visual arts in Reno (NV) High School for 30 years before her death in Reno on Jan. 14, 1990.
