Raoul Varin Etching of Paris Scene "Paris Le Pont au Dauble" 1900s

Regular price $125.00

Here we have a rare Raoul Varin etching from the turn of the century entitled "Paris Le Pont au Dauble." Besides being a fantastic etching with amazing detail, the scene of fellas selling art/goods with a an amazing cathedral (Notre Dame?) behind him is a direct shot to my soul. Check out the horseshoe and rock holding the clothesline with the art. So good. Not to mention that it's a self portrait. Check out the "Varin" tag on the portfolio next to dealer. Varin had an outstanding look.

The rare etching is an early version from a limited run. It looks like #35 out of 350. The title and signature are also in pencil.

Here's a great biography of Raoul Varin, who is actually known for his prints of Chicago scenes. You can find numerous prints at the Chicago Institute of Art:

The early etching is attached to an old matting piece. The top is attached and rest is loose (see pics). There is some extra graphite markings hidden by the matting.

The entire artwork measures about 14" tall x 15" wide. The print measures about 13" tall x 15" wide. The exposed image measures 8" x 10". There are some slight wrinkling and discoloration from age, especially along the edges. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship to the continental USA only. It will be shipped housed in an acid free sleeve. Free shipping on the piece.

I've looked all over and I can't find another copy of this print. You can find Raoul Varin prints out there, but good luck finding another copy of this rare French print. The detail is phenomenal. Don't miss out.
