Here we have an explosion of a Tonalist landscape painting from the early 1900s. Full disclosure, landscapes aren't my first choice but landscapes that breathe and scream will be my first choice every time. When I turned the corner and saw this hanging amongst other artworks, I can say this piece was glowing compared to the rest. Nothing but respect for an artist hand that can produce all of these layers, landing in a perpetual explosion. Landscapes are legit. This old painting is just sick.

The antique landscape painting comes out of an old estate of an art collector in the Twin Cities. The painting is signed "M. Brown" and dated 1919 in the lower right corner. We're dealing with a mystery artist.

The framed Tonalist painting measures 25" wide by 19" tall. There is heavy craquelure from age and patina throughout the painting. Above the main tree there is a horizontal slice in the canvas (see pic). The painting is sold AS IS, but it's so good that it explodes across the condition issues. The oil on canvas is slightly loose in the frame as well. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
