Here we have an original unpublished illustration painting of a crouching green monster by Hall of Fame illustrator C.C. Beck. This rare piece of pulp comic history is a stunner. The hand of a master was fully at work with this unusual scene, and the detail delivers in spades. The contorted crouch along with the killer four-finger hands gives this illustration the extra juice.

The illustration appears to be gouache on illustration board or paper. The rare artwork is signed and dated 1929, and was intended for the Weird Tales pulp magazine. Here is a listing from Heritage Auctions containing another unpublished Beck illustration with similar green monsters, also intended for Weird Tales.

Here's the intro from the Wikipedia page for C.C. Beck. See the full page here.

Charles Clarence Beck (June 8, 1910 – November 22, 1989) was an American cartoonist and comic book artist, best known for his work on Captain Marvel (today known as Shazam!) at Fawcett Comics and DC Comics.

He was inducted into the comic book industry's Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1997.

The artwork is professional matted and framed. The entire ensemble measures just over 21" tall and 21" wide. The exposed artwork measures 9 1/2" x 9 1/2". The framing lives up to the importance of the rare illustration artwork. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I love when 100 year old pulp history is found right in front of your face. Pictures do not do this beauty justice. They had me at "Weird Tales."
