Here we have a stunning charcoal and watercolor folk art piece of a fortified city on the coastal cliffs, with an old ship sailing in the distance. In terms of the composition, it's incredible to see all these different elements come together into one unified piece that explodes. The angles and colors scream folk art, and I can't stop looking at it. This beautiful artwork hits all the buttons repeatedly. And then you have the ship in the distance. A masterful touch.
On the reverse there is a note stating "Collected San Antonio Texas USA." The actual piece show a lot of age. The foxing on the reverse resembles similar items from the 1800s. The artist is a mystery. I don't see a signature anywhere.
The 19th century folk art measures 21 1/2" wide and 13" tall. There is an exposure line along the edges from a previous matting and framing. There is wear from age throughout the piece. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes). Free shipping on the rare folk art.
An incredible structure executed by an incredible hand, The angles!
