Here we have amazing medical style ink drawing of a skeletal figure in a casual pose. This 1950s gem is simply one of the coolest vintage drawings I've come across in a long time. The dichotomy of the muscular skeleton with wicked long fingers posing in the most laid back way...almost bored. You already know when you throw this beauty up on your wall you will be stopping traffic and answering questions. It's the gift that keeps on giving. The unsigned drawing was created by Minnesota artist James Quentin Young. Here is a quick bio based on his obituary in the Star Tribune:
James Quentin Young (1936-2022) grew up on the West Side of St. Paul and graduated from Macalester College with a BA in art education. A Master of Fine Art was awarded at the University of the Americas in Mexico City. He was an artist-in-residence in Washington DC and in Prague, Czech Republic.
The 1950s artwork comes out of a Saint Paul estate.
The vintage framed artwork measures 13" wide by 11 1/2" tall. There is surface sketching patina found throughout. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
