Here we have an antique wrapped leather walking stick with an unusual metal riveted cap and a scratch design decal. Some of these old leather canes were made by prisoners. Not sure if this is the case with this one, but it sure would help you in the clink. This late 1800s accessory will get you out of a jam if you accidentally zig when you should've zagged. The old chap who owned this wanted the grip to end all grips and send a message with the ominous scratch design. This beauty has all the brutal patina to win your case, and the weight to clear the room.
My guess is the leather cane was made between the Civil War period and the 1890s. The rare walking stick came out of an old estate in Wisconsin.
The antique cane measures about 35 1/2" tall and the handle measures 5". The width of the top handle is just under 1". As stated before, there is patina throughout, especially the wicked scars in the wrapped leather. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
