Regular price $165.00

Here we have an antique silver and leather horse riding crop ready to set the line and keep it that way. She’s a relic of late 19th-century discipline and decorum. This Victorian-era riding crop features a stunningly detailed repoussé handle, hammered with deep foliate scrolls and acanthus leaves. It’s a piece that feels heavy with the weight of the Gilded Age—elegant, authoritative, and unapologetically, The Boss.

While originally designed for the equestrian elite, objects like this have long occupied a space in the darker corners of Victorian social history. Beyond the fox hunt, these crops were symbols of status and "gentle" correction, often finding their way into period photography, theatrical performances, and the more private, unconventional underground collections of the era. Whether you see it as a piece of sporting history or a more provocative Victorian curiosity, its presence is undeniable.

The antique riding crops was created sometime between 1890s to early 1900s. It came out of a Civil War collection in Wisconsin.

The antique riding crop measures 21” to the flap, and 27” with the extended flap. The silver plated nickel doesn’t magnetize but I’m quite sure it’s not pure silver. It has a leather-wrapped core with a stitched leather "keeper" (flap) at the end. There is patina from age throughout the piece. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
