Here we have a rare antique Suter Bros Hat Block covered by the best patina this side of the Mississippi. Even though it lived its life as a hat mold, this antique millinery piece boldly displays any hat you have. It's solid enough to put it back to work as well. You can feel the presence of cruising and bruising with this little gem. No wonder everyone in a felt hat looks like serious business. Love the dark patina fading in and out throughout this bruiser.
The rim of the rare hat block is clearly marked with the 7 1/4 and 901. On the bottom for the inner top mold, it’s stamped “Suter Bros” and “6” and “51.” Based on my estimate, this millinery tool was created in the late 1800s or early 1900s.
The wicked old hat block measures the following:
Rim: 12 1/2” x 10 1/2” x 2”.
Top: 7 1/2” x 6” x 6”.
As stated above there is perfect patina throughout, including a ton of general wear from use. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the millinery survivor.
I just love looking at this thing. Display it in your shop with some half-lite? Forget it. Game over.
