Here we have an antique tintype featuring a direct witness to the grit of the American industrial machine. This rare occupational tintype features a steadfast mechanic, seated with a large iron monkey wrench draped over his shoulder like a scepter of the working class.

Forged in the soot and shadows of the Gilded Age, this isn't just a photograph; it is a haunting piece of iron history. The plate bears a beautiful, spiderweb crazing across the surface, a texture of age that suggests this image has spent the last 150 years surviving the very world its subject helped build. The man's gaze is direct, his attire a perfect snapshot of 19th-century labor: the flat cap, the high-buttoned waistcoat, and the rough-hewn cravat.

The antique tintype comes out of an old Wisconsin estate. My guess is the photo was taken in the late 1800s.

The rare old photo measures 3 1/4" tall and 2 1/2" wide. There is wear throughout the piece, both the front, reverse, and along the edges. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the cool antique tintype.

This dude is nameless to history but immortalized on iron, representing the muscle and myth of a bygone era. Wicked!
