Here we have an antique ornate standing crucifix or cross that stands tall in numerous ways. First, this thing is 26" tall. Not 16"....26". Standing crosses this tall are rare. I'm 99% positive this gothic cross is brass. It doesn't magnetize. Ornate design everywhere, including Fleur De Lis. Check out the clawfoot base. The brass is peaking through a heavy layer of old black paint. So let's get right to the good part...
The piece was found in an estate of an elderly woman near the Twin Cities who past away. Apparently, she had significant struggles in her life. At some point she painted the cross black to better fit her decor.
The base of the cross measures about 5" in diameter. It's likely the piece had a Christ figure (see attachment holes). The piece is very solid overall, with some good weight. The cross is bent slightly forward at the middle, and looks to bend slightly to the right when facing it. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
