Antique Film Reel Case Carrier from the Silent Film Era
Regular priceSale price
Here we have an antique film reel carrier/case with a variety of painted decals, including European location (France, Germany, England, Luxemburg, Belgium), stars, a skull, and Waco, Texas. (Pretty sure the previous sentence has never been written in the history of human existence). The case is older than the hills and I can't find a similar model. I think it's from the 1920s.
I believe the decals were added as a prop for a production, possibly a play. The paint is weathered and worn along with the rest of the piece. My guess is the paint was applied in the 40s or 50s. It is a killer display piece for any film buff. Hollywood will be calling.
When sitting up, the case measures 14" tall, 19.5" wide, and 8" deep. It still has the original leather strap. It's got patina everywhere. The case was in storage for decades. When I acquired it there was mold in the corner on the inside. I full-on nuked the inside with mold remover more than five times, washing and cleaning it in between each dose. The chemicals and clean wore off some of the interior enamel. I think it was worth the sacrifice. Not a fan of mold. There is still a hint of the chemicals when you smell the interior. However, I believe I accomplished my mission to destroy the mold.
