Science Lab Table Lamp with Unusual Design | 1950s

Here we have an unusual machinist table lamp with a knuckle adjuster and cobra clamp on the socket. This is a snake light if I've ever seen one, and the thing is ready to pounce.  I can't find another example anywhere. I can see this thing in an old science laboratory. Maybe they were dissecting snakes and there was an outbreak.

The rare socket knuckle is a thing of beauty. The ball knuckle is controlled by the cap slot on the top. But the cap slot rotates, so the light can distort to many positions, yet the position is very secure. I'm new to this type of design. I'm very curious what you can clamp with the three bolts. That Frankenstein snake design is a head turner. Looks like something from Alien or The Predator. Rare industrial decor at its finest.

Based on the in-line wiring, I'm guessing the manhinisy lamp is from the 50s or 60s. It came out of an estate in rural Minnesota. It's a belter, clean and fully functional.

The industrial light stands about 21" tall in its natural position. Great patina throughout this one. From the hook to the and of the socket measures about 10". The diameter of the base is about 10". When facing the mouth of the beast, the hook arm leans a hair to the right. The wiring is original and measures 66". I see no issues but please perform your own inspection. The Halo inline switch works fine. Please see all pics as they are part of the description. The bulb is not included.

I ship to the continental USA only. Free shipping on the light.

If you're not a fan of snakes or Frankenstein you might want to shy away from this unusual laboratory light. Or confront your fears! It has powers. You'll see.
