Execution of Robert Emmet Print

Here we have a super rare antique print of the Execution of Robert Emmet, which occurred in Dublin in 1803. What a chaotic, intense scene. People are freaking out, for good reason. Check out the crowd rising up, and the military trying to keep them down. There were times in history where extreme brutality was used to make a point, and this is one of them. The event looms large in the history of Ireland.

The rare print was created by the Kurz & Allison art publishing company of Chicago in 1897. The print mirrors a previous print created 20 years earlier. Both are based on an original painting. I've seen a few of the 1877 prints, but I haven't found another of the Kurz & Allison.

Currently, there is a statue and plaque found on grounds where the event took place. Here's a video from someone visiting the spot.

Here is the intro from Robert Emmet's Wikipedia page:

Robert Emmet (4 March 1778 – 20 September 1803) was an Irish Republican, and Irish nationalist patriot, orator and rebel leader. After leading an abortive rebellion against British rule in 1803 he was captured then tried and executed for high treason against the British king George III of Great Britain.

Here' is the full wikipedia page about Robert Emmet:

The framed19th century print measures 25" tall by 30" wide. The exposed print measures 17" tall by 23" wide. The colors are still very vibrant. There is some discoloration, especially a couple vertical lines in the print (see pics). The matting edges show some age as well. The lower center matting is slightly warping. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO Boxes please). Free shipping on the rare Irish print.

Stunning history. That is all.
