Here we have a stunning Harlem Renaissance painting of a musician jamming on a guitar, which having quite an effect on a listener. The word "historical" comes to mind. Harlem Renaissance history and blues music history via a phenomenal scene that hits you like a ton of bricks. The way the artist uses broad strokes of paint in order accentuate the nuances is still a mind boggling mystery to me. Case in point. The guitar players hand, and then extending to the pointed elbow. What a perfect pose. Imagine framing this beauty, surrounded by multiple accent lights. I can sit and observe this historical beauty for days.

The oil on board painting was likely created in the early 1930s in New York. On the reverse, the painting is stamped:

Joseph Mayer Co, Inc
?? Union Square, New York City

The artwork is not signed. The artist remains a mystery. But I guarantee you the artist was unbelievably talented.

Here is an intro to the Harlem Renaissance courtesy of History.com:

The Harlem Renaissance was the development of the Harlem neighborhood in New York City as a Black cultural mecca in the early 20th Century and the subsequent social and artistic explosion that resulted. Lasting roughly from the 1910s through the mid-1930s, the period is considered a golden age in African American culture, manifesting in literature, music, stage performance and art.

The unframed Harlem Renaissance artwork measures 24" tall by 18". There is patina throughout the painting, which I love given the historical significance and rarity of the piece. The corners and edges of the painting has wear. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping on the amazing historical painting.

Simply, one of the best paintings I've ever owned. Execution, style, and history. Unreal.
