Apothecary Pharmaceutical Trays with Contents from 1920s

Here we have a rare set of six apothecary pharmaceutical trays from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota, circa early 1920s. These things are unbelievable, and complete with over 200 samples of old medicinal and herbal roots and plants used to make medicine and drugs. These rare medicalsamples were used as teaching aids showing the different medical plants, with each noted with a typed label containing the common and scientific names for the roots.

The "drug cases" (term used on the label, not mine) were used by Catherine Christgau, who graduated from the School of Pharmacy in 1925, and went on to become a pharmacist and owner of the Christgau Drug Store in southern Minnesota. Apparently the students often took the drug cases with them and used them in their pharmaceutical practice. Crazy.

As for the list roots and plants, it's a long one. Please zoom on the pics for the names. If you have any questions, I can assist. Most of the exterior labels say "Catherine Christgau, Drug Case (number)".

Imagine adding six compartmentalized, black and glass cases and over 200 specimens to your antique laboratory, curiosity or oddities room, or apothecary display. They have a killer scientific look, and you can flip up the covers to get a closer look. You rarely see these antique apothecary sets, and you certainly don't see a set of six in incredible original condition.

Each case measures 15" wide, 11" tall, and just under 2" deep. There are some slight scuffs and minor tape peeling with the cases. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship to the continental USA only. Free shipping on the lot of cases.

Honestly, I'm fine if these never sell. The industrial black look is too good, and the condition is the bees knees. Now if only it could talk....
