19th Century Yatate Inkwell and Pen Holder | Bronze Japanese Antiques

Here we have a rare Japanese Yatate inkwell and pen holder with ornate foliage design and decoration. The ornate beauty of the bronze patina mixed with the design commands a place in any fine Asian decor display. Some people think they are opium pipes....whatever works, and floats your boat. The pictures don't do it justice. It's gorgeous. Whoever made this piece wanted to do their everyday writing in sophisticated style. Mission accomplished. Well done. Serious, and sophisticated. Not to mention that it resembles some sort of glorious beast ready to pounce. Blazing.

The rare Asian collectible comes out of high end collection of Chinese antiques in the Twin Cities area. The opium pillow in the shop comes out of the same collection.I was told the piece is bronze and originated in the late 1800s.

The Asian Yatate measures 14" long , 3 3/4" wide at the pot, and 5" tall at its highest point. There's perfect patina throughout. The pot top flips open without issue. Depending on the angle of how the stem lays, one leg of the pot may not touch the surface. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.

I ship FedEx to street addresses in the continental USA only (no PO boxes). Free shipping the rare Japanese inkwell and pen holder.

It's just a stunner to look at. 19th Century had it going on. Check the pics again.
