19th Century Folk Art Walking Cane | Rare 1800s Design
Here we have a 19th century folk art walking cane with intricate wood geometric carvings. The diamond and circular carvings on this antique walking stick literally pops off the ebonized stem of this rare beauty. Canes from the 1800s were all about making a statement, and the folk artist who created this one opted to stick his/her nose up at the establishment. Your petty silver melts away when confronted with the underground madness of this unique design. The kicker is the 5 1/2" metal ferrule. A mean, mean cane. Keep'em coming y'all.
The rare walking cane comes out of a folk art collection from the Twin Cities area. I was told it likely was created between 1850 and 1890.
The folk art walking cane measures just over 36" tall. The knob top has a diameter of about 2". There is perfect patina throughout the stick, including slight losses of the ebonization. It's like buttah. The metal ferrule shifts slightly about 1/4" along the bottom shaft. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
