Here we have an antique Navajo saddle blanket with a unique yellow and black color scheme. The 1920s artifact falls in the untidily saddle blanket category because this beauty experienced it all. But don't call the design simple....I can argue this as one of the first "stare at" wall hangers. You can get lost in the intricate diagonal design, and subtle shift from yellow to white/black. I wish this fella could talk...I'm sure he's seen everything the frontier as to offer. Such amazing designs and history.
I was told the antique saddle blanket was made in the 1920s and came out of storage for a museum in the Southwest.
The Navajo double saddle blanket measures 58 1/2" long and 33 1/2" wide. As stated above, the blanket is in solid, used condition. There is a small repair in the corner (see pic). There is some slight fraying along the edges, in the corners, and some spots in the body. Please see all pics as they are part of the description.
